Never Made by the batch

Each Keep item is a one-of-a-kind piece of art created from pre-owned clothing or remnant fabric: a destined discard in which we found potential.

As tempting as it can be to want to scoop up a predictable pack of new socks or t-shirts, all uniform in size, shape, and color, we know it is important to do our part to resist the appeal of easy, fast-fashion, because it isn’t easy on the people who make them or the world they travel through.  In an effort to take care of each other and the planet we’re spinning on, we aim to slow fashion down: dying, mending, repurposing and recrafting second-hand garments, changing their labels from get-rid-of to keep-forever.  Each piece is unique, not only because it is the last one of its kind that we salvaged from someone else’s hand-me-downs, but also because we take each one through its own distinctive, creative process when we bring it back to our workshop.

We take old stuff and make it new: just for you. Every piece has its own miraculous journey of which we can never fully know, but we do know that before we send it on to you, it will have been thoroughly cleaned and sporting colors that will not fade. We believe that any remaining signs of its previous wear add to its charm: less like scars; more like character.

Colors break in a unique way each time we dye something; the fabric on which it bleeds also plays an unrepeatable part in what the item will look like. Simply: different fabrics, different dyes, different arrangements, and the different creative processes we walk through for each Keep creation means that when you participate, you get to be a part of the solution all while getting to have a beautiful piece of art that is meant for you to Keep.
